Hugh Raiten, 77, Vero Beach
Hugh Raiten, 77, of Long Beach, N.Y., and Vero Beach, founder of the well-known Riverside Cafe, passed away peacefully in his home in New York on June 9, 2018.
He was the loving father of Suzanne (Patrick), Christine (Jeff), Patti Wilson, Hugh and Beverlee Raiten; and proud grandfather of Kellee, Chloe Kinnier, Emma, Jack Wilson, Erin Hoppe.
Mass at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach, FL on Saturday, June 23, at 10:30 a.m.
Celine Rueck, 89, Sebastian
Celine Rueck, 89, of Sebastian, passed away on June 11, 2018.
Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19, at Strunk Funeral Home, Sebastian, with a Prayer Service being held at 6:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 20, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Sebastian.
Arrangements are by Strunk Funeral Home and Crematory, Sebastian.
Arnhold Schwichtenberg, 96, Vero Beach
Arnhold Schwichtenberg passed away on June 3, 2018, due to injuries sustained in a car accident on May 27. Arnie was born on July 16, 1921, in Bayonne, N.J.
Arnie was a Pearl Harbor survivor and was a chief machinist on the USS Trever. He served six years in the Navy and later in the war was aboard the USS Steele DE-8 in the South Pacific. Once leaving the service, his family relocated to Oakdale, Calif., where he raised his family and farmed almonds.
Arnie worked as a machinist, tool and die maker for Norris Industries and Gallo Winery.
Arnie was an active member in the Pearl Harbor Survivor Association and served as president of numerous chapters. Arnie truly lived life to the fullest and enjoyed traveling all around the world. He loved golf, food, music, teaching younger generations about Pearl Harbor by speaking at local schools, and veteran’s associations.
After retirement, Arnie and Lilly moved to Barefoot Bay, Fla., near the Atlantic Coast.
The Schwichtenberg’s are a close family and Arnie spent the majority of his time surrounded by them and many people he loved. Arnie and Lilly were married for a total of 52 years and “Mamma” was his entire world.
Arnie was a dedicated patriot who loved this country. He showcased this best when reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and giving his Flag Salute speech, where he proudly described the meaning of Old Glory.
He is survived by his wife, Lilly; his sons, Neil Schwichtenberg (Mary), and Ken Post (Polly); and daughter, Arlilla Bueno; his sister, Anna Miller, of Matawan, N.J.; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Arnie was preceded in death by his first wife, Terrill; his daughter, Helen Huntley; and his sons, Arnie Joe and Kevin.
Arnie’s final Pledge of Allegiance and Flag Salute will be held on July 8, at the Elks Lodge in Sebastian.
His remains will be taken to Pearl Harbor to be placed where the USS Trevor was attacked at a future date.
Arnie will be greatly missed by everyone who loved him.

Kimberly Jean Torrent, 50, Vero Beach
Kimberly Jean Torrent, 50, of Vero Beach, passed away June 14, 2018. She was born Jan. 5, 1968, in Elkhorn, Wisc. She was raised in Florida by her mother and stepfather, Janet and Geoff Newcombe.
Kim graduated from Vero Beach High School in 1986 and earned her AA degree from Indian River Community College. She worked at the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office until Lupus made it unable for her to work.
She bravely fought Lupus for many years while maintaining her positive attitude and loving spirit. Kim and her mother shared a love of art and she was an excellent watercolorist. She was an active member in the Westminster Presbyterian Church, the local Lupus Support Group, and at one time volunteered with the Big Brother/Big Sister program receiving the honor of Big Sister of the year.
Kim is survived by her mother and stepfather, Janet and Geoff Newcombe; her father and stepmother, Frederick and Patricia Torrent; her siblings, John (Grace) Torrent, Leslie (Tom) Gallagher, Sara Newcombe, Scott Newcombe, Troy Bell, Margo Dodge, and Robin Dobrick; nieces, Madison Torrent, Kennedy Torrent, Lauren Smith, Amanda Breen; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A memorial service and Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 23, 11:30 a.m., at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2555 58th Ave., Vero Beach.
