Hours & Address: Dinner, Wed. to Sat., from 4 p.m. Sunday from 5 p.m.
1605 South Ocean Dr., Vero Beach 32963 | Phone: 772-231-7299

What and Where: Two decades ago, diners were wowed by the Shell and Bamboo Rooms, which adorned what for a time was Vero’s classiest and best restaurant. Now, the same decor is a bit tired and instead of the late Chef Yannick’s culinary creations, the attraction is salsa lessons every other Friday. But Maison Martinique still has a good kitchen.

Ambiance/Atmosphere: An aging white-tablecloth restaurant.

Must-Try Dishes: Seared scallops St. Jacques.

Adult Beverages: Cocktails, and good wines by glass or bottle from short list.

Reservations: Suggested.

Price: $$$

Rating: Three Stars

Overall Verdict: This is not your grandfather’s Maison Martinique, and it’s no longer in the top tier of Vero Beach dining. But if ambiance is not all that important, you can still get a good meal here.

The cuisine these days is French Mediterranean, and the dishes are well prepared. But the service is not as polished and attentive as it used to be, and if you remember dining here in the old days, you are likely to leave a little disappointed.
