INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A 23-acre brush fire that led residents at Bradford Place to be evacuated from their homes was fully contained as of 6 p.m., said Steve Greer, assistant fire chief with Indian River County Fire Rescue.
It was not immediately clear if there were any injuries.
The fire started about 11:45 a.m. Sunday in a wooded area near Oslo Road and 27th Avenue Southwest in southern Indian River County. Residents at Bradford Place were evacuated about 3 p.m. as a precaution, Greer said.
Crews with Indian River County Fire Rescue, along with the Florida Forest Service and St. Lucie County Fire District, contained the flames by evening. Residents were allowed to return to their homes about 6:30 p.m.

No structures were damaged in the blaze, said Indian River County sheriff’s spokesperson Capt. Joe Abollo.
“Deputies will be on scene with fire rescue for the remainder of the evening as this is still an active investigation,” Abollo said.
Greer said firefighters will monitor the blaze overnight. The cause of the fire was not immediately available.
The state fire marshal will investigate the cause of the blaze.
