Meteorologists issued a tornado watch Saturday afternoon for parts of Florida, including the Treasure Coast, along with areas to the north and west. The advisory comes after several counties experienced powerful thunderstorms – packing strong wind gusts and heavy hail – this week.
The tornado watch, which includes Indian River County, remains in effect until 10 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Melbourne. Residents in Brevard were already experiencing strong hailstorms.
