GIFFORD — A 26-year-old man who deputies said fired shots at a driver who knocked him over with a vehicle during a confrontation, was arrested Tuesday in Brevard County. Deputies identified Kejuan Lamar Wynn as the man who fired several bullets from a rifle toward the car July 11, a moment captured in a newly released surveillance video.

No one was struck by the gunfire, sheriff’s officials said. The car driver, a man, was not hurt, Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Abollo said.

Deputies said Wynn approached the car with the rifle and began arguing with the driver moments before gunfire erupted. The incident prompted Gifford Middle School and Treasure Coast Technical College to be placed on brief lockdowns.

“This is happening in broad daylight,” Indian River County Sheriff Eric Flowers said of the shooting. Brevard County sheriff’s deputies – along with U.S. Marshals – found Wynn in Melbourne Tuesday and detained him.

Wynn, of the 4400 block of 29th Avenue, Vero Beach, was charged with attempted second-degree murder, shooting or throwing a deadly missile and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Wynn was being held in custody at the Brevard County Jail until he is transferred to Indian River County Jail, officials said.

The shooting happened about 10:24 a.m. outside of a business at 30th Avenue and 45th Street, Flowers said in a YouTube video posted to the agency’s Facebook page. Wynn was carrying the rifle when he walked up to the white car and got into a verbal altercation with the driver.

A voice can be heard yelling “you got my money?” in the surveillance video. As Wynn walked away, the car driver put the vehicle in reverse and struck Wynn, knocking him to the ground, the footage showed.

Wynn got up and fired multiple shots at the car as the driver sped off from the area, officials said.

Law enforcement officers arrested Wynn. Details on Wynn’s bond information were not immediately available.
