VERO BEACH – Renaissance Senior Living of Vero Beach residents reminisce of old Vero Beach as they walk through the halls of their new home; soaking in the memories through historical pictures of the city.
Renaissance Senior Living partnered with the Indian River County’s Historical Society to obtain historical pictures of Vero Beach.
“We love having these historical pictures hung throughout the facility. Many residents are reminded of what Vero Beach was like when they were growing up. We wouldn’t have had the success in finding these great pictures without the help from the Indian River County Historical Society. We appreciate their partnership and all that they do for our local community,” Liz Earman, executive director of Renaissance Senior Living of Vero Beach, said.
Renaissance Senior Living presented the Historical Society with a plaque at its grand opening on November 16 to show their appreciation.
“One of the most important benefits of these pictures is that they help to keep the memories of old Vero Beach alive for those who are struggling with Alzheimer’s, dementia and other memory-related disorders. Seeing familiar images of our beautiful town from years past is an exercise that helps to stimulate some of their memory. Seeing the joy in their faces when they recognize an image is so powerful for us as a caregiving team,” Earman said.
