INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Deputies are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who wore a black face mask along with a yellow and grey hoodie during an armed robbery Monday at a dollar store.
Deputies said the man held a knife with a 5-inch blade to the throat of an employee before demanding money from the cash register. The man told the worker, “now, get in the register and get me all the money,” reports show.
The man then fled the store and ran northbound on 87th Avenue, reports show. Deputies said they think the man took off with at least $500.
Indian River County deputies released surveillance footage of the incident late Monday to their Facebook page. The armed robbery prompted the response of K-9 and road patrol units, along with a sheriff’s helicopter to search for the suspect.
“Please take a minute and listen to the suspect’s voice,” sheriff’s officials said in the social media post. “Should you know the suspect, please contact us.”

Indian River County deputies responded to reports of an armed robbery about 5 p.m. Monday at Dollar and Variety Neighborhood Grocery, located in the 8700 block of 20th Street. Deputies reviewed surveillance footage, which showed the man walk into the store wearing a black face mask along with a yellow and grey ‘Everlast’ hoodie.
The video showed the man approach an employee. The man pulled out a knife and demanded money from the cash register, deputies said.
The two then walk off screen, followed by the sound of what appears to be a cash register opening.
Deputies said the man also had on dark blue jeans, white sneakers, white gloves and a baseball cap. Deputies described the man as white, about 6 feet 2 inches tall and about 230 pounds.
