Bishop Kenneth Gordon Brown, Sr., 69, Vero Beach
October 29, 1956 – June 6, 2026
Kenneth Gordon Brown, Sr., was born on October 29, 1956, in Vero Beach, Florida to Elder Donald Brown, Sr., and the late Valerie Brown. He was the second of five children blessed to this union. Kenny Brown, as he was affectionately known to many, was reared in Gifford and had been a lifelong resident of Indian River County.
He attended Gifford High School until schools were integrated then he moved to Vero Beach Senior High. He was a member of the Mighty Class of 1974. During his early years, he and his brothers learned to be skilled landscape technicians in his father’s landscaping business. Under his father’s tutelage, he also grew in the knowledge of the Christian faith. During weekly services at the Fellsmere Church of God in Christ, he began serving. He did everything from building upkeep to singing in the choir and preaching the Gospel.
He eventually left his roots. He married, had a family and yielded to the call of God to ministry. He transferred his membership to the Church of God, where he became a licensed and ordained Bishop. For many years he served faithfully at Wabasso Church of God, Northside Church of God and was assigned as Pastor of Avon Park Church of God.
Throughout his professional career, Bishop Brown held several positions in a variety of fields, including service as a veteran of the US Army & Reserves, Deputy Sheriff with the Indian River County Sheriff’s Department, and positions with Parker Hannifin and Jorgensen, to name a few. His most notable position, second only to the church, was as a Guest Services Representative at Orlando Health. He had a story to tell daily about how he was fulfilling his call and walking according to purpose. He genuinely loved his work family.
Before his departure to eternal rest, Bishop Brown was currently serving as the Senior Pastor of Kingdom Works Ministries, where he had been a faithful servant leader for more than 18 years. The best part of his week was Sunday morning. He enjoyed the fellowship of his church family.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 29 years: Tammy Broxton-Brown, eight children: Dariyall Brown, Janickie Brown, Kenneth Brown, Jr., Courtney G., Keyani Brown, Kezni Brown, Javius Broxton, and Derrick McCray; nine grandchildren: Taylor Smith, Noah Smith, Jadrain Scurry, Kyree Brown, Ariyah Brown, Amani Williams, Luna S., Amier Judon, Amoree Judon, and Aubrey McCray; father: Elder Donald Brown, Sr. (Hazel); father-in-law: Clayton Broxton; brother: Donald Brown, Jr.; sister: Sabrina Dawson (Patrick); sisters-in-law: Cozetta Brown, Dorrie Brown, Wanda Munnings, and Sylvia Williams; aunt: Katie Mae Frazier; Polk County Family; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, colleagues, church family and friends.
