Indian River County (IRC) – Jim and Diana Cronin have announced a significant long-term commitment to support the vital conservation work of the Indian River Land Trust. The couple has pledged to contribute a minimum of $150,000 annually over the next five years, with grants to be made through the Cronin Nature Fund and the Fry and Cronin Foundation. When combined with contributions beginning in late 2025, their total support is expected to exceed $1 million.
The Indian River Land Trust is dedicated to protecting environmentally sensitive lands, preserving water quality in the Indian River Lagoon, and maintaining the rural character and open spaces that define the region. Through strategic land acquisition, conservation easements, and restoration initiatives, the organization plays a critical role in safeguarding the area’s natural legacy.
The Cronin Nature Fund reflects Jim and Diana’s personal commitment to land conservation and the protection of natural resources. The Fry and Cronin Foundation was established in recognition of the Cronins’ longstanding relationship with Darryl and Marlene Fry and their shared philanthropic vision, with a focus on advancing community-based initiatives, particularly in the areas of nature and education.
Ken Grudens, Executive Director of the Indian River Land Trust, said, “Jim and Diana Cronin’s generosity and long-term commitment reflect a deep understanding of the importance of land conservation for the future of Indian River County. Their support strengthens our ability to carry out our mission, and we look forward to working together for many years to come.”
Melissa DePriest, Chief Development Officer for the Indian River Land Trust, added, “From our first meeting, we were struck by Jim and Diana’s humility and genuine desire to make a difference. Their commitment reflects a deep passion for conservation and community, and we are grateful to have them as partners in this work.”
The Cronins shared, “We greatly admire the Land Trust’s dedication to preserving the character and environmental health of our community. What stands out most is how much is accomplished by such a small and committed team, supported by an extraordinary group of volunteers who care deeply about this mission. Their work will have a lasting impact on future generations, and we are honored to be part of that effort.”
