The Vero Beach Museum of Art Summer Classes series begins Monday, June 1, continuing through Aug. 8. It offers a range of art and wellness classes for all skill levels. Programs are designed for both beginners and experienced participants seeking creative enrichment throughout the summer months. Classes include Gardens in Art History running from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays and led by Chris Fasolino. The course will look at the inspirational role gardens have played in art history. Colorful paintings from ancient Egypt reveal gardens irrigated from the Nile. Ancient Roman painters portrayed gardens with a new level of realism. Medieval gardens were celebrated in “thousand flowers” tapestries. A Chair Yoga class meets from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Mondays and is led by Elise Mahovlich. The class adapts traditional yoga using a chair for support, incorporating stretching, balance and breathing techniques to improve flexibility and reduce stress. Its full-body workout will include forward bends, backbends, and spinal twists for flexibility, and is suitable for all mobility levels. Qigong class will run from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and is led by Katie Nall. The program introduces participants to the ancient movement practice known for promoting balance, flexibility and overall wellness through gentle, flowing exercises. No equipment is required, and all experience levels are welcome. A Still Life Painting class is scheduled from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays instructed by Barry Shapiro. Designed for beginner to intermediate artists, the class combines art history presentations with hands-on painting and group critique to build technique and confidence. An Abstract Painting class will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, also taught by Shapiro. This is for all levels who want to explore the world of abstract painting by looking at its origins and its contemporary practitioners. Each week features a new style and approach for oil and acrylic painters. Registration for these classes runs $85 to $205 with discounts for members.
