“Great job, K-9 Knox and everyone involved, for keeping our community safe,” sheriff’s officials said in a statement.

Harrison, 20, was charged with aggravated fleeing with injury or damage, reckless driving, leaving the scene of a crash involving damage to property, resisting officer without violence and no valid driver’s license. On Jan. 22, sheriff’s officials released the dashboard and body camera videos of the pursuit. The 3-minute video was posted to the sheriff’s office Facebook page.

Deputies responded to reports of a small sports utility vehicle with a stolen tag on Nov. 4 near 41st Street and U.S. 1. Other deputies spotted the SUV traveling recklessly by running red lights and stop signs, reports show.

A deputy activated the emergency lights and siren on the sheriff’s patrol car to conduct a traffic stop. Then, the SUV’s driver took off at a high rate of speed, officials said.

At one point, the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a railroad sign. The driver then ran northwest from the crash site.

A sheriff’s helicopter and K-9 Knox found the driver – identified as Harrison – hiding in a wooded area nearby, reports show. Deputies detained Harrison and booked him into the county jail.

Deputies confirmed the SUV was reported stolen out of Polk County. The license plate was stolen out of Gifford, deputies said.

It was unknown why Harrison was in Indian River County.

Harrison’s arraignment was held on Jan. 21. Harrison’s next court date was set for 9 a.m. March 3, court records show.
