Hours & Address: Dinner daily, from 4:30 p.m.
2855 Ocean Drive, Vero Beach 32963 | Phone: 772-231-4090
What and Where: A warm greeting from the hostess, an awesome server and beautifully plated dishes that were tasty, too. This Ocean Drive restaurant in the northeast corner of Portales de Vero – years ago one of our favorites – has had its ups and downs in recent times. But on our most recent visit, it seemed back at the top of its game.
Ambiance/Atmosphere: Steak house meets country club.
Must-Try Dishes: The creamed spinach side may be the best ever.
Adult Beverages: Great bar and wine list.
Reservations: Suggested.
Price: $$$-$$$$
Rating: Four stars
Overall Verdict: While it boasts of its top prime steaks, on a December evening at Polo we tried two seafood dishes – a huge crabcake (nicely seared, and filled with crab) and seared U-10 sea scallops with a braised pork belly and corn puree. Excellent! This is also a great restaurant for bourbon or whiskey drinkers, but we were particularly impressed by the wine selection by the glass – which included the excellent Napa vintages of the Van Dyk family, a nice touch since they have a home in Vero.
