United Against Poverty of Indian River County Launches SNAP Support Initiative: Bridging the Gap for Residents Impacted by SNAP Benefit Freeze

Vero Beach, FL – October 31, 2025 – As the federal freeze on SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits leaves many Indian River County families uncertain about how to put food on the table, United Against Poverty (UP) is stepping up to help.

Beginning Monday, November 3, residents affected by the SNAP freeze are encouraged to visit the UP Center, located at 1400 27th Street in Vero Beach, to receive vouchers for the Member Share Grocery Program.

Vouchers will be distributed between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. daily, and residents may receive their vouchers during the week they would normally receive their SNAP benefits.  This schedule helps ensure that families have access to food when they need it most.

In addition, local nonprofit agencies will be on site during those same hours – 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. daily – to provide additional resources and support for individuals and families facing hardship during the shutdown.

“We know this freeze is creating real fear for veterans, seniors, and families who depend on SNAP to feed their children,” said Matt Tanner, Executive Director at United Against Poverty.  “We’re here to connect people with the help they need right now.”

United Against Poverty encourages all affected residents to come by the UP Center during the scheduled hours or visit UPIRC.org for more information about available programs and resources.
