You’ve got one more weekend to enjoy Riverside Theatre’s annual “Vegas Nights” event. Vegas Nights invites the public to enjoy live music, purchase drinks at a full bar, purchase meals at a grill, and gather in its beautiful lobby in the evenings for traditional casino games. While it is free to come to the casino, those who purchase casino chips and play have a chance to win $14,000 and more in prizes donated by popular local merchants. Funds raised from Vegas Nights benefit Riverside’s Youth Tuition Assistance & Community Engagement Programs. In addition to the casino, Riverside has its regular Comedy Zone and Live in the Loop free concerts this weekend. Featured standup comics are Tim “The Dairy Farmer” Moffett and Johnny B. The shows are 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Friday, July 19, and Saturday, July 20. All seats are $25. You might be interested in bundling tickets to the Comedy Zone with Casino Chips for the Vegas Nights which will be running in the theater’s lobby. Children can also engage in Riverside Theatre this weekend. Riverside Theatre’s “Playtime in the Park” invites children and their parents to attend a dance workshop and performance at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20, in the theater’s outdoor Loop Stage. These are free and designed for children 2 to 5 years of age. Free, no ticket required. Riverside Theatre for Kids will present the 90-minute version of the musical “Xanadu” performed by students ages 13 to 20 years. The storyline concerns a Greek muse who inspires love, laughter and more in a 1980s roller disco. “Xanadu” performs 7 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, July 20, and 2 p.m. Sunday, July 21. Vero Beach Theatre Guild will open the popular musical comedy “Something Rotten” this weekend. The storyline is set in 1595 London and follows the Bottom Brothers, Nick and Nigel, who try to find success as playwrights but keep getting overshadowed by someone called William Shakespeare. So, the Bottom Brothers turn to a soothsayer for help in their next big hit. The show runs July 19 to Aug. 4 at the Vero Beach Theatre Guild, 2020 San Juan Ave., Vero Beach. The Space Coast Symphony Orchestra ignites the summer season with “Orchestral Fireworks,” scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, July 21, at the Community Church of Vero Beach. The musical concert features music by composers Perttu, Tchaikovsky, and Prokofiev. Highlighting the program is Tchaikovsky’s evocative “Romeo and Juliet Fantasy,” a poignant portrayal of Shakespeare’s tragic love story. Also featured is Perttu’s “Valor,” a powerful tone poem depicting the hero’s journey, from initial resolve through conflict to ultimate triumph, marking its southern U.S. premiere by the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra. Closing the concert is Prokofiev’s monumental Fifth Symphony, premiered in Moscow amidst the turmoil of World War II, celebrated for its profound reflection of the human spirit’s grandeur.
