State Farm Awards Indian River Habitat with $10,000 Grant Toward Critical Home Repairs

Vero Beach – State Farm has once again lent its famous adage to Habitat’s mission of building a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

This time, State Farm “was there” to support Indian River Habitat’s Home Repair Program with a $10,000 grant award.

Habitat’s Home Repair program serves populations in need of critical or minor home repairs, at a rate they can afford. Critical repairs range from roof, air conditioning, and water heater replacement to home preservation projects like wheelchair installation, and exterior pressure washing.

Since 2017, State Farm has proudly partnered with Habitat to continue providing stability through home.

“We are so thankful for State Farm’s generosity,” Indian River Habitat’s Home Repair Manager, Karyn Bryant, begins.

“Because of this grant award, three households will stay in their homes after receiving a new roof. Two households will also protect their homes against weatherization for years to come,” Bryant concluded.

One of the families supported by State Farm’s generosity is Habitat homeowner, Maria Perez. As a recent widow, Maria is not only solely responsible for maintaining her home, but she is also financially responsible as well. Going from two incomes to one, Maria struggled to afford home preservation repairs.

With assistance from State Farm, and through Indian River Habitat’s Repair Program, Maria can preserve the one thing she has left from her late husband – their home they purchased together in 2012.
