The Space Coast Symphony Orchestra pairs up with some Vero Beach luminaries to present Camille Saint-Saens’ “The Carnival of the Animals” this weekend. Conducted by Aaron T. Collins, the program will feature Jean Black, principal keyboardist who performs professionally throughout Central Florida, and Jacob Craig, director of music and arts at First Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach. Craig will also perform Saint-Saens’ “Piano Concerto No. 2.” The program also features music by Antonin Dvorak and Claude Debussy and the world premiere of Sonya Leonore Stahl’s “Eagle Music.” Stahl is violinist with the Gainesville Orchestra and Ocala Symphony Orchestra, and was the state fiddle champion at the Florida Folk Festival in 2011. The Vero Beach Museum of Art will present a couple of programs related to its current exhibition, “Ancient Egypt & the Napoleonic Era: Masterworks from the Dahesh Museum of Art.” First program is “Aida, Verdi and Egypt: Sifting Through the Sands of Time with the Vero Beach Opera.” In that presentation, the opera company’s master of ceremonies Ian Campbell will explore the truth about the creation of the Verdi opera. That begins 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 3. Tickets are $20 for museum members and $25 for non-members. Next up is “Ballet Vero Beach – Through Their Eyes: Choreographic Impressions from Foreign Lands” with Ballet Vero Beach as they examine the historical influences on the art form. That program begins 3 p.m. Saturday, March 16. Both programs will be held in the museum’s Leonhardt Auditorium. Cost is $30 for members and $35 for non-members. Space is limited. The Vero Beach Chamber Orchestra will have its first concert of the season at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 3, at the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center. The program features works by Mendelssohn, Bartok and Mozart. The second program is scheduled for 2 p.m. April 7 and will feature works by Beethoven, Faure and Mozart. A chamber concert under the stars begins at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at the Indian River State College Hallstrom Planetarium. The concert features the Canta Libre Chamber Ensemble, which includes violin, viola, cello, flute, clarinet and harp. The program includes works both new and familiar. The music will be accompanied by a full planetarium sky and lumia display. Tickets are $20 general, $17 for veterans and seniors, and $10 for IRSC students and employees. Seating limited.
