Gary Dillon, Sr., 77, Vero Beach

January 01, 1947 – January 16, 2024

Gary Dillon, Sr. of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away in his home on January 16, 2024, with his daughter Marlene, and his cat, Charlie, by his side.

Gary was born on January 1, 1947, to William and Beatrice Dillon in Detroit, Michigan, who both preceded him in death.  He is also preceded in death by his lifelong wife, Frances “Fran” Dillon (Pooh Bear), of 56 years, an infant child, Kenneth, who passed shortly after birth, his in-laws Lawrence and Antoinette Meli, and his stepmother-in-law Violet Meli, and his youngest brother, Glenn Dillon of Midland, Michigan.  He is survived by his five children: son, William Dillon of Jacksonville, Florida, son Gary Dillon, Jr. (Toni) of Vero Beach, son Robert Dillon, Sr. (Georgia) of Vero Beach, daughter Marlene Balogh (John) of Melbourne, Florida, and son, David Dillon, Sr. (Kandy) of Vero Beach.  Gary leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren who he loved very much, and always enjoyed seeing them when he could.  He is also survived by his younger brother, Michael Dillon, and his brother-in-law, Frank Meli of Ferndale, Michigan.

Gary met his high school sweetheart, Fran, and soon married her on January 8th, 1966.  They moved to various locations throughout Michigan, primarily in the Midland area, where family still resides, and then in 1982 they picked up everything and moved the family to Ft. Pierce, Florida.  They lived in various cities in the area but settled in Vero Beach later in life.  They left a legacy with their large family of being very loving, forgiving, generous and thoughtful.

Gary was a roofer his entire life, working in one of the hardest professions there is.  He mentored three of his sons and a grandson who became well known in the roofing industry. When he was younger he was an avid hunter, with his largest buck being a 16 point Whitetail in Michigan.  He also loved fishing whenever he got a chance, spending time with family and friends on the water.

A Visitation will be held Sunday, January 21, 2024, from 3:00-4:30 p.m. with a funeral mass beginning at 4:30 p.m. at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach.

Gerard Dorato, 64, Vero Beach

July 31, 1959 – January 12, 2024

Gerard Dorato, age 64, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024, in Vero Beach, Florida. He was born in Mineola, New York to Gerardo and Frances Dorato. Gerard was employed by Jenna Concrete in Bronx, New York as a Shop Steward for thirty-two years. He moved to Vero Beach from Hicksville, New York and was a member of the Moose Lodge and Teamsters Local 282.

Survivors include his wife Susan, children Ashley (Richard), Matthew (Emily), Brianne (Khary); stepdaughters Jennifer (Cesar), Valerie (Alex), Sharon; grandchildren Jameson, Luke, Mackenzie, Rylynn; dogs Harley and Bandit and many friends that became family.

Gerard was predeceased by his father Gerardo Dorato; his mother Frances Dorato (nee Pullella); and his nephew David C. Balsamo.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Elks Club, 901 Lakeville Road, New Hyde Park, New York 11040.

William Bruns, 81, Vero Beach

June 17, 1942 – January 22, 2024

William Bruns, 81, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully with his daughter Chrissy by his side and loved ones nearby on January 22, 2024 after his battle with congestive heart failure.

Bill was born on June 17, 1942 to his mother Frances in Brooklyn, New York and was later adopted by Edward Bruns when his mother remarried. After Bill graduated from Calhoun High School in 1960, he went on to study business at Hofstra University first earning bachelor’s degree and then a master’s degree in 1973, and later earned a PMD at Harvard University in 1982. Bill was also a Sergeant in the Army Reserve after college serving in Fort Hood, Texas.

In 1968, Bill had a daughter, named Christine (Chrissy) Woods who had two daughters Victoria (Tori born 1999) and Annabelle (Belle born in 2001).

He started his first job at Grumman Corporation on Long Island, New York in 1966. He then went on to become President of Grumman Emergency Products in Roanoke, Virginia until 1992, then Simon LTI until 1995, and United Plastic Fabricating until his retirement in 2013. During his career, Bill helped forge many alliances through various associations, to help build federal attention to the needs of the fire industry. Some of Bill’s most treasured friendships came from his work life and participation in associations like the Fire Apparatus Management Association where he earned the first and only (to date) Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013.

In 2013, Bill retired and moved to Vero Beach with his companion Cherie to be near his mother, Frances. He spent his free time playing golf and started the Men’s Golf Association (MGA) in his community, Pointe West. In his continued dedication and respect to the United States, he secured funds and established the first American flag pole on the course as well.

Beyond all of his achievements and accolades, Bill will be remembered most for his sharp sense of humor and lightning fast wit. He loved music, cars, and would not say no to an offer for a dinner out with family or friends, or his favorite guilty pleasure, ice cream. Over the course of his lifetime, he was an avid bowler, tennis player, and golfer. At different times in his life, he lived with his family in Isfahan, Iran, enjoyed traveling to sunny destinations, boating and spending time at Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia, which will be his final resting place at the family vacation home there.

Bill was predeceased by his father Edward and his mother Frances. He is survived and will always be treasured by his daughter Chrissy Woods and her significant other Ryan, as well as Bill’s two granddaughters Tori and Belle Woods. He will be missed dearly by his partner Cherie, who was more than just a great friend, travel companion, and golf partner, as well as their many friends in the Pointe West community.

Lucy Monte Condinzio, 84, Vero Beach

July 14, 1939 – January 24, 2024

Lucy Monte Condinzio, age 84, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2024 in Vero Beach, Florida.

She was born in Manhattan and resided in Brooklyn, New York prior to moving to Vero Beach, Florida.

Lucy retired from being a hostess in restaurants, working in retail shops, and bartending. She loved to cook and was considered the best family chef. She was also an excellent homemaker and babysitter to her grandchildren. She was happy to share her wisdom and to give advice. Her knowledge and insight was a valuable asset and people felt a close & loving eternal bond with her.

She was a member of Saint Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in New York City.

Lucy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who was loving, kind, caring, and generous to family and friends. She had a sense of humor and loved to joke and laugh. She was outspoken and outgoing, helping anyone in need. She adored her family and pets. She was loved and will be missed by many people.

She attended Saint Patrick’s Catholic School in New York City, NY.

Survivors include her husband Anthony Condinzio; daughters Maria (Artie) and Janet (John); sons Michael (former spouse Lisa) and Frankie; grandchildren Jeannine (Ahmed), Nicholas (Laura), Lucas (Chelsea), Dylan (Jessica), Fallon, Brandon, and Michaela; great-grandchildren Hassan, Jania, and Sienna; step-children Eileen and Donna (theirs spouses and children); and brother Sebastion.

Lucy was predeceased by Mama Vincenza, Papa Frank, and fifteen siblings Anthony, Paul, Charles, Jospeh, Joey, Vincent, Mary, Katherine, Josephine, Lily, Julia, Dorothy, twin sister Eleanor, two infants, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other family members. Her beloved pets were Teddy & Bugsy.

A graveside service will be held on January 30th, 2024, at 11:00 am at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.

Lynette Dunn D’Errico, 60, Vero Beach

March 05, 1963 – January 21, 2024

Lynette Dunn D’Errico, age 60, passed away January 21, 2024, at VNA Hospice House of Vero Beach.

She was born spring of 1963 in Berwyn, Illinois to the late George D. and Carolyn G. Dunn.

Lynette was a graduate of Purdue University, where she earned her Master’s Degree in Adapted Physical Education. She also received a Master’s from Northwestern in Special Education.

Mrs. D’Errico enjoyed her 40 years of teaching at Floresta Elementary School in Port St. Lucie, Florida. She served 12 of those as Assistant Principal. The last year, she piloted the Autistic Program for K-5. She taught in Illinois, Indiana and Texas. Lynnette had a passion for helping children. She influenced generations of special needs children. She poured so much into each and every child.

She volunteered with Special Olympics of Florida, Healthy Athletes (Fit Feet For over 15 years), Honor Flight Southeast Florida as Secretary and Shifting Gears of Florida.

Lynette loved scuba diving, trapeze, Cozumel, traveling, time with family, cruising, triathlons, Girls on the Run, and coaching.

Survivors include her loving husband, Andrew D’Errico, two aunts and numerous cousins. She was all about her family and truly a daddy’s girl.

A Service will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 1, 2024, at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church.

Lynette had a heart of gold. She will be remembered for the love she shared.
