INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A Delray Beach woman was jailed during the holiday season after deputies said she traveled to the Treasure Coast and broke into at least two unlocked vehicles. There were no items taken from inside the vehicles, Indian River County sheriff’s spokesperson Sgt. Kevin Jaworski said.
The woman was arrested after deputies used the Flock Safety license plate reader camera system to track her whereabouts.
Shaquita Shavay Williams, 38, was charged with traveling across county lines to commit a burglary and auto burglary. Williams was held Thursday at the Indian River County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
Indian River County sheriff’s officials on Wednesday released helicopter footage of Williams’ arrest. Sheriff’s deputies arrested the woman without incident.
“She did not flee from law enforcement,” Jaworski said.

The incident began when Williams drove north on Dec. 26 to Port St. Lucie. Port St. Lucie police said Williams got into a person’s car in the Aldi’s parking lot on St. Lucie West Boulevard.
The owner confronted Williams, who said she thought she was in her sister’s vehicle, police said. Williams then got into her Lexus sports car and drove off, according to the owner.
Port St. Lucie officers issued a public alert that the auto burglary suspect was heading north. Indian River County sheriff’s deputies received a notice from the Flock Safety license plate reader camera system that Williams’ vehicle was traveling near 66th Avenue and State Road 60.
Deputies found Williams’ car in the crowded parking lot of Marshalls & HomeGoods located on 20th Street in the West Vero Corridor.
A sheriff’s helicopter tracked Williams as she walked through the parking lot pulling on door handles, officials said. Deputies said Williams eventually got into an unlocked vehicle.

Deputies arrested Williams and booked her into the county jail. Williams has an arraignment at 10 a.m. Feb. 1, court records show.
