High tide, high winds and a few sprinkles may have prevented the flames from roaring during the 2023 Beachside Bonfire Fest, but they weren’t enough to keep the crowds from enjoying a good party.

Beachgoers were treated to a variety of food, drinks and music as they wandered from Costa d’Este Beach Resort to Kimpton Vero Beach Hotel, making stops along the way at Waldo’s, Mulligan’s Beach House and, slightly inland, the Boiler. Although waves consumed most of the beach, people made the best of the situation, turning it into a game of chicken with the ocean as they made their way from one venue to the next. As a bonus, a few light rain showers early in the evening created a stunning sunset, complete with a rainbow. Many also purchased raffle tickets for myriad prizes, knowing the real prize was that the money would support the Veterans Council of Indian River County.
