Cotugno, Dingle win Vero seats; Jones, McPartlan and Nun win Sebastian seats

Mayor John Cotugno and Taylor Dingle won two open seats on the Vero Beach City Council in Tuesday’s general election. Fred Jones, Bob McPartlan and Christopher Robert Nun won three open seats on the Sebastian City Council.

Votes were tallied after residents hit the polls to choose who will represent the city council in the Vero Beach and Sebastian municipal elections. Polls opened at 7 a.m. and closed at 7 p.m.

The general election had 30,461 active eligible voters, with 6,490 of those casting ballots, resulting in a 21.31 percent turnout, the Indian River County Supervisor of Elections website showed. There were 3,496 residents who voted by mail and 2,922 who cast their ballots on Election Day.

Taylor J. Dingle          31.75 percent            1,177 votes

Honey Minuse             27.60 percent          1,023 votes

John E. Cotugno         40.65 percent           1,507 votes

Sebastian City Council

Damien H. Gilliams                            1.47 percent             175 votes

Damien L. ‘Junior’ Gilliams              1.34 percent             159 votes

Fred Jones                                            28.96 percent           3,444 votes

Sherrie Matthews                                17.14 percent            2,039 votes

Bob McPartlan                                     26.55 percent           3,157 votes

Christopher Robert Nun                    24.54 percent           2,919 votes
