BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS HONORED WITH 2022 GOLD STANDARD AWARD

FORT PIERCE – Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of St. Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee Counties has been recognized as a 2022 Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBSA) Gold Standard Award winner. BBBS is one of 26 out of 225 agencies across the country to receive this top honor.

The BBBSA Nationwide Leadership Council, which is made up of local BBBS agency leaders and board members, meets on a yearly basis to select agencies that have shown excellence in the organization’s signature one-to-one youth mentoring program. BBBS empowers young people on a path to graduate with a plan for their futures and a mentor whose impact can last a lifetime.

The prestigious Gold Standard Award recognizes agencies that have increased their revenue and grown their number of mentors, known as Bigs, and their Littles, who are matched through the program.

“Being recognized with the Gold Standard Award is a highly significant achievement for our BBBS agency,” said Debbie Hawley, BBBS CEO. “Our team wholeheartedly believes in the positive difference a one-to-one mentoring relationship will make in the life of the children we serve in our three-county area. This award is testament to that belief system, and I am so proud of our entire team for their hard work and dedication in supporting our Bigs and Littles in their mentoring relationships. We are humbled to be honored as a Gold Standard Award agency.”

BBBS is grateful for the support of the many generous funders and community members who helped make the increase in revenue and matches possible locally.

“We are extremely proud to honor BBBS of St. Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee Counties this year. Their innovative efforts and actions are leading the way in which our Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies empower young people across the country,” said Artis Stevens, BBBSA president and CEO. “We congratulate and thank these agencies for the outstanding work they do every day to support the life-changing mentorship matches they form and facilitate.”
