VERO BEACH — Two families were displaced following an early morning house fire Thursday that also left three cars damaged, officials said. No injuries were reported in the blaze.

The families – which include three adults and four children – were related and living at the same residence, Executive Director of the American Red Cross Palm Beach and Treasure Coast Chapter Eric Roby said. The state fire marshal was investigating the cause of the fire, Indian River County Fire Chief Dave Rattray said.

Firefighters responded to the blaze about 2 a.m. at the home in the 300 block of Old Dixie Highway, Rattray said. Crews extinguished the flames.

The home had heavy fire damage, leading authorities to shut off power to the residence, officials said. American Red Cross South Florida Region crews were providing the family with financial assistance.
