Hours & Address: Daily, lunch/brunch to 3 p.m.; dinner 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
6260 Highway A1A, Vero Beach 32963 | Phone: 772-231-6556

What and Where: Set among the oaks and palms in the heart of the Village Shops, this is the “neighborhood joint” for Indian River Shores – and the food here is as consistently good as any served in fancy dining establishments. While there are tables inside, most choose to dine under the blue and green umbrellas when the weather cooperates.

Ambiance/Atmosphere: Al fresco dining at its finest.

Must-Try Dishes: Wonderful salads. Try the beets and goat cheese, or the wedge.

Adult Beverages: Short but decent wine list.

Reservations: Strongly recommended.

Price: $$$

Rating: Four stars

Verdict: Now in its second decade, this island standby is a gem. The upscale bistro food is well prepared, and the servers are efficient and pleasant. The only complaints you ever hear are about the absence of cocktails. The town (which also requires Citron close early) won’t allow it. The swordfish is as good as it gets, and the bread pudding has a lot of fans. The Sunday brunch from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. deservedly has a big following.
