Vero Beach, FL …. The Indian River County Historical Society will unveil and dedicate the county’s newest historical marker on April 29, 2023. The marker is located at the 700-acre Treasure Hammock Ranch in western Vero Beach. This new historic marker is the 37th marker in Indian River County.
This event will be celebrated along with a catered cowboy style picnic at the ranch located at 82nd Avenue and 37th Street in Vero Beach (1 Mile North of Route 60) from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Parking will be in the pasture with the grain silo on the east side of 82nd Avenue.
Admission for the event is $50.00 for adults, $20.00 for children ages 10 to 18, children 10 and under are free. Proceeds from this event will help to support many Historical Society programs that help to educate the community about the importance of local history.
A brief history of our county’s cattle industry and the Treasure Hammock Ranch will be highlighted at this event along with a bit of cowboy poetry. Guests and supporters will be able to tour the farmstead and will also be able to see historic features such as the original cow pens and dipping vat which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

For over thirty years, the Indian River County Historical Society has contributed to preserving the historical and environmental resources of Indian River County, the Indian River Lagoon area, and the State of Florida. The Historical Society office is located in the 1903 Vero Beach Railroad Station on 14th Avenue in historic downtown Vero Beach. In addition to the railroad station property, the organization owns, operates and maintains the 1918 Hallstrom House on Old Dixie Highway. Both of these properties are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
