Treasure Coast Symphony to present concert at St. John of the Cross

TREASURE COAST SYMPHONY PRESENTS CLASSICAL CONCERT

Saint John of the Cross Catholic Church

March 1, 2023, Vero Beach – On Sunday, April 23, 2023, at 4:00pm, a concert featuring the Treasure Coast Symphony will be held at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, 7590 26th Street, Vero Beach, FL. This event is free to the community; a free-will offering will be accepted to benefit the organization.

The Treasure Coast Symphony is the oldest community orchestra in the area and is celebrating 38 years on the Treasure Coast. The musicians come from many different backgrounds and professions including several teachers from Indian River and St. Lucie Counties as well as Indian River State College students.

This performance will include the premier of a flute solo written by Matthew Karram in memory of former flautist and guest conductor Joann Love Kinder, performed by her long-time friend and colleague Amy Clark with piano accompanist Ryan Kasten. St. John of the Cross cantor, Beth Shestak, will be featured singing Schubert’s Ave Maria. Beth has directed several area musicals including a recent production of Sister Act. The first half includes several classical favorites including Hungarian Dance No. 5 and the Overture to the Poet and Peasant. Beethoven’s first symphony will be the spotlight piece on the second half of the concert. Matthew Karram, the conductor, is a member of the St. John of the Cross choir, a lector, and the Associate Band Director at Lincoln Park Academy in Fort Pierce.

The mission of the Treasure Coast Symphony is to promote musical education and experience for volunteer musicians of all ages; for the enrichment of our musicians and our community. We have worked to fulfill this mission through concerts, scholarships, and outreach on the Treasure Coast for over 38 years.
