Youth Guidance Receives $5,000 Grant from TD Charitable Foundation
Vero Beach, FL (December 15th, 2022) … The TD Charitable Foundation recently awarded Youth Guidance Mentoring Academy a grant for $5,000. These funds will enable Youth Guidance to continue its tutoring, academic enrichment, and S.T.E.M. programs for students in grades K-6.
Youth Guidance provides one-on-one and group mentoring programs for children with limited resources to help build a path out of poverty. When a child enrolls in Youth Guidance, they choose from a variety of programs including tutoring, S.T.E.M., money management, cooking, sewing, bicycle repair, boat mechanics, and more. The Youth Guidance academic enrichment program establishes learning baselines and teaches children how to learn.
“We are delighted to be a recipient of this grant,” said Phil Barnes, Youth Guidance Executive Director. “It will enable us to continue providing tutoring and group mentoring programs that help ensure our students will be promoted to the next grade level and graduate from high school on time.”
Youth Guidance Mentoring Academy is dedicated to enriching the lives of Indian River County youth through mentoring relationships that inspire trust, self-esteem, and positive futures. Founded in 1973, Youth Guidance provides daily meals as well as one-on-one and group mentoring programs to children and young adults ages 5-24 with limited resources.
After school, students complete their homework under the supervision of trained Youth Guidance staff. Then they participate in group mentoring programs that include vocational training, life skills, and STEAM (Science, technology, engineering, arts, and math). All programs and meals are provided free of charge thanks to the generosity of the local community.
