Karen Sue Wiley, 69, Barefoot Bay

October 28, 1952 – July 23, 2022

On July 23, 2022, Karen Wiley (Hogan) went home to be with the Lord. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She and her husband, Terry Wiley, shared 50 years together.

Born in Johnstown in 1952, she was the daughter of Mary Hogan-Mishler (Snyder) and Wilbert Hogan. She graduated from Forest Hills High School and attended Cambria Rowe Business College. She worked for WJAC TV for 4 years and 23 years as an Office Manager at Bestform Foundations. After moving to Maryland, she worked for Robert Balter Company as an Executive Administrative Assistant.
She fulfilled her dream of retiring in Florida, where she resided in the Barefoot Bay Community. She was an active member of Concordia Lutheran Church , where she was the assistant secretary and involved in church activities such as the choir and WELCA. Karen loved the beach, Music Bingo, Taco Tuesday, and days by the pool with her many friends. She loved living in the sunshine, where everyday felt like a vacation.
Karen is survived by her husband Terry, children Jason Wiley and his wife Lisa (Conn), Westminster, MD; Melissa Shrift (Wiley) and her husband Steve, New Germany, PA; Grandchildren Megan and Lauren Wiley, Damian, Darren, and Danica Shrift; Sister Debbie O’Hara (Hogan), Barefoot Bay, Florida; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by parents Wilbert and Mary, sister Mary Jane Friewald-Watts, brother Jim Hogan, and stepfather Tom Mishler.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Johnstown on September 10, at Sandy Run Hunting and Fishing Club in South Fork, PA at 11:30 am. In addition, a Celebration will be held in Florida at the Barefoot Bay Building D & E on September 24 at 3:00 pm. A light meal and refreshments will be served at both celebrations.
