FELLSMERE — All lanes on southbound Interstate 95 were reopened late Tuesday following a crash involving a sedan that slammed into the back of a semi-truck, officials said. The impact left two people with non-life threatening injuries, Indian River County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Steve Greer said.
The wreck happened Tuesday afternoon on southbound I-95 at the 158 mile marker, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office. The incident led authorities to close all southbound lanes except for one.
Two people in the black sedan were taken by ambulance to Health First’s Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Greer said. Their genders and ages were not immediately available.
No other injuries were reported. A dog in the vehicle was picked up by animal control, Greer said.
All lanes were back open Tuesday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol traffic map. FHP troopers were investigating the cause of the crash.
No further details were immediately available.
