Vero Beach Rowing crews bring home silver and bronze medals from Florida Scholastic Rowing Sweeps Championships

Vero Beach, FL – April 26, 2022 – Vero Beach Rowing crews fared well at the Florida Scholastic Rowing Association Sweeps Championships in Sarasota over the weekend, with several crews finishing in the medals. Vero Beach Rowing sent five crews to compete against 37 other crews from across the state at the world-class Nathan Benderson Park rowing venue. 

VBR’s junior men’s eight,+  comprised of Noah Rich Royall, Graham Frankenberger, James Murphy, Aidan Powers, Hunter Coughlin, Max Zych, Austin Keith, and Mason Brown, with coxswain Samara Coakley finishing second in the state bringing home silver medals. 

The women’s junior four+  finished third in the state with Zadie Diniz, Sofia Sturgell, Lily Burdick, and Liliana Elliott, with coxswain Tyler Colgan capturing bronze medals. 

“It was a great weekend of racing and everyone performed very well in the final regular season regatta of the season,” said VBR Director of Rowing Paul Mokha. “Top performers will return to Sarasota to the regional championships in May hoping to earn qualifying spots for the national championships.”

The boy’s freshman 8 with coxswain won the B final, placing them 7th in the state. VBR’s girl’s freshman four with coxswain placed 6th in the state.
