“NESHAMA” exhibit opens at Gallery Veritas May 14

“NESHAMA” EXHIBIT OPENS AT GALLERY VERITAS MAY 14

NEW VERO CONTEMPORARY ART GALLERY TO FEATURE PAINTINGS BY BARRY SHAPIRO

Neshama is Hebrew for “The Spirit” and the title for an exhibit of new paintings by Vero Beach artist Barry Shapiro. The show will open at Gallery Veritas on Saturday, May 14 with an artists’ reception from 3pm until 7pm.

Gallery Veritas is located at 1422 20th Street, just west of the corner of 14th Avenue. It is the latest edition to downtown Vero’s Art District.

This exhibit is part of a two-year exploration by Shapiro into the ability of art to create an introspective and meditative state for the viewer. These paintings are lively with color and motion, several have 3 dimensional elements and gold leaf. Created during the isolation of the pandemic, they are a reflection of the artists state of mind during the past few years and his hope for a spiritual awakening.

Shapiro is the former owner of Lighthouse Art and Framing in Vero. A graduate of Pratt Institute, he worked in film and video in New York before settling in Vero Beach. He has exhibited in galleries in New York, Boston and Florida. He works primarily in acrylics and pastels.

After the opening, Neshama will be exhibited in the gallery through the month of June.
