Ransford Paul Carlill admitted to deputies he touched the girl inappropriately, officials said. Carlill told deputies, “I did what is being said. I don’t know why. There is no good in what I did,” reports show.

Carlill was charged with two counts of capital sexual battery. He was held Friday at the Indian River County Jail without bond.

The girl’s mother contacted Indian River County sheriff’s deputies on April 6 after she reviewed her surveillance camera and noticed Carlill was in her daughter’s room the day prior. Carlill was the woman’s live-in boyfriend, reports show.

The footage showed Carlill pulling up his pants, deputies said. The girl told her mother that Carlill touched her inappropriately.

Carlill admitted to the act in a controlled recorded phone call between him and the woman, reports show. Carlill told deputies he had also sexually abused the girl on March 16.

Carlill said he had touched the girl inappropriately a handful of times, including at a hotel in St. Lucie County while she was asleep, reports show.

Carlill was arrested and booked into the county jail. Carlill was ordered not to have any contact with the woman or the girl.

Carlill has an arraignment at 8:45 a.m. May 20, court records show.
