SEBASTIAN — A man was killed and two others, including a minor, were hurt in two-vehicle crash near Treasure Coast Elementary School late Thursday, authorities said. The wreck closed County Road 510.

The head-on crash happened about 8:45 p.m. in the 7500 block of 85th Street, which is also known as C.R. 510, Indian River County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Jamie Coleman said. The collision involved two smaller sports utility vehicles.

A man in the first vehicle was pronounced dead on the scene, Coleman said. There were no passengers in the SUV.

Another man and an 11-year-old boy were traveling in the second vehicle. Both had serious, but non-life threatening injuries, Coleman said.

The man was taken by ambulance to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce, Coleman said. The boy was flown to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach.

Deputies closed down C.R. 510 in both directions, between 90th Avenue and 77th Avenue. It was unclear when the roadway would reopen.
