Anthony F. Whitmore, 88, Sandusky

October 18, 1932 – April 28, 2021

Anthony F. Whitmore, 88, of Sandusky, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2021 in Sebastian River Medical Center, FL.

He was born on October 18, 1932 in Santa Monica, CA to the late Theodore and Lois (Bickel) Whitmore. He was a 1953 graduate of Lorain High School and was a tool maker for Ford Motor Co. in Lorain for 32 years, retiring in 1990.

Anthony was a snowbird for many years to Barefoot Bay, FL. He loved roller coasters and boating, swimming, and biking in Florida. He was a member of the Blue Gavel, Commodore of the Beaver Park Yacht Club, and a member of the Florida Moose for over 15 years.

Anthony is survived by his daughter, Connie (Paul) Davis, of Sandusky, OH; son, Kurt Whitmore, of New Britain, CT; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Twila (Hafely) Whitmore, in 2019; and son, Keith Whitmore, in 2016.

Per his wishes, there will be no visitation. Burial will take place at a later date in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.

Jacqueline (Jackie) Antoinette O’Connell, 73, Micco

March 16, 1948 – April 27, 2021

Jacqueline (Jackie) Antoinette O’Connell passed away on April 27, 2021 at the William Childs Hospice House.  Jackie was born on March 16, 1948 in Oakland, California and was the first child of Anthony John and second of Lillian Mae (Humphrey) Hollestelle.  She attended Merritt Island High School.

After high school, Jackie enlisted in the Navy where she met her first husband, Michael Blandford O’Connell and had sons Dennis and Jefferson.  While raising her boys, she worked for numerous restaurants in the Ithaca, N.Y. area, including the Golden Garter, Mexicali Rose, Old Port Harbor and The Boxcar as both a bookkeeper and waitress.  She joined B&W Supply and then Sysco Foods in Elmira to work on the supply side of the restaurant business before assisting in the founding of The Wildflower Café in Watkins Glen along with eventual second husband Douglas Thayer.

Upon divorce and return to the Ithaca area, she took up employment at the Student Management Corporation (SMC) which assisted the fraternities and sororities at Cornell with their day-to-day operations.  Jackie would soon be promoted to Executive Director and remain in that position until her retirement.

Aside from her full-time job at SMC, Jackie founded the very successful Vintage Jewelry business and sold her hand-crafted jewelry at The Windmill in Penn Yan on Saturdays for the better part of fifteen years.

Jackie originally retired to Watkins Glen before relocating down to the Barefoot Bay retirement community in Micco, Florida where she volunteered her time teaching Ukulele lessons, making jewelry and singing Karaoke.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, younger sister Andrea Lynn Stockum and best friend Fletcher Grover.  She is survived by her older sister Sharon Tiller, family friend George Morissette, brother-in-law Fred Stockum, son Jefferson (JJ) O’Connell, son Dennis O’Connell, step-daughter Candy O’Connell, grandchildren Ayden O’Connell and Clara O’Connell, and various nieces and nephews.

Jackie requested a private service with family members but was thankful for all of her many friendships that added joy and happiness to her life.

Cathy Rae Green (Holland), 71, Marblehead Lakeside, Ohio

December 9, 1949 – April 26, 2021

Cathy Rae Green (Holland), 71 of Marblehead Lakeside, Ohio passed away April 26, 2021. She was born in Akron, Ohio to Bobby and Kay Holland on December 9, 1949. Cathy graduated from Norton High School in 1968. She married Andrew Raymond Green II on August 16, 1969.

Cathy was a homemaker while her children were in school. She was very active in the schools and was a great room mom. She and her family enjoyed many years of camping, boating and take taking vacations to the beach with many close family friends. When her kids were grown, she worked for the Apple Grocery store in late 1980’s to the 2000’s. She was the assistant produce manger. She enjoyed talking with the regular shoppers daily.

She enjoyed baking, canning, sewing, crochet, and many other arts and craft activities over the years. Cathy was an avid reader who loved to share a good book with others when they needed one. She didn’t need a library card as she loved to go to garage sales and find many books to read. Her love for the beach and sun was undeniable. A perfect day for her was a good book on the beach with family and dear friends.

Cathy had a dual residency in Marblehead Lakeside, Ohio and Sebastian, Florida. She was able to spend the summer and early fall with her daughter and close friends. Then, she would pack up to go to Florida to spend time with her son and his family. She had many friends and loved ones in each town. She was a fun-loving person who loved music and the beach. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

She is survived by her children Andrew Raymond Green III (Gayle) of Sebastian, Florida and Michelle Smith (Robbin) of Mansfield, Ohio. She had two grandchildren she adored Samantha Gianniny (Alex) and Andrew Raymond Green IV. She is also survived by her mother Kay Holland of Vinemont, Alabama and sister Cindy Holland, brothers Rick Holland, Robby Holland, and Raymond Holland.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Andrew Raymond Green II, and father Bobby Holland.

The family has decided to hold an open house/celebration of Cathy’s life at a later date in Marblehead Lakeside, Ohio.
