April Child Abuse Prevention Month

CHILDREN’S MEMORY FIELD

APRIL IS PREVENT CHILD ABUSE AWARENESS MONTH

The Children’s Memory Field is public recognition of Florida’s children whose lives were ended through child abuse during 2020. Sadly a child’s life ends most often at the hands of parents or a close family member. Each flag stands in memory of the death of one child. The flag is tagged with the name and age of the child. This year there are 82 flags. The field will be on display at Riverview Park in Sebastian April 1 – 15. On April 18 – 30 the Flag Field will move to St. Helens Catholic Church, 2000 20th St, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

The field is sponsored by the Exchange Clubs of Indian River, Sebastian, Vero Beach and Treasure Coast. The Prevention of Child Abuse is the National Project of the Exchange Clubs. During April, Exchange Clubs bring public awareness to Child Abuse in Florida not only through the memory field but by placing signs strategically around Indian River County.

Our Local Exchange Clubs: Indian River, Sebastian, Vero Beach and Treasure Coast; raise funds for non-profits in Indian River County that focus on Families and Child Abuse Prevention. Nationally and throughout Florida, Exchange Clubs also support Exchange sponsored Child Abuse Prevention Centers.
