In remodeled Grand Harbor condo, ‘it’s all about lifestyle’

The owner of the condominium at 5040 Harmony Circle, Unit 108, in Grand Harbor says her mother – who moved into the apartment after spending years living in Virginia – was delighted to be “back home.”

As a child, the owner lived in Vero Beach with her mother who at one time worked as an ocean lifeguard. “She was thrilled to be able to live near the beach again.

“She loved it down here. She’s always had an affinity for the beach,” owner adds.

This turnkey property boasts spectacular views of the 18th hole of one of Grand Harbor’s two championship golf courses. The sweeping view is dotted with palm trees breaking up the fairway’s verdant green before giving way to a wall of oak trees – a serene setting for the Mediterranean-style architecture.

The recently updated three-bedroom, three-bath condominium is a rare find, according to Realtor Bill Lynch, who is with Alex MacWilliam Real Estate, a brokerage that lists and sells many homes in Grand Harbor.

When the owner updated the property, she made quite a few improvements, says Lynch, noting new flooring, countertops, cabinets, lighting, appliances and backsplash.

The condominium has the convenience of a first-floor unit, coupled with the privacy afforded an end unit. From the screened porch, you can watch the sunrise while sipping your first cup of java or later enjoy breakfast as golfers make their way past, chasing the ever-elusive hole in one.

The walkway to the front door is surrounded by tropical foliage and shaded by a mature tree. The door opens into the communal living areas with a breakfast nook, kitchen and laundry area off to the right. The kitchen has been updated with new appliances and the Corian countertops and the white, underlit cabinets give the space an elegant vibe.

The large pass-through window allows plenty of light to filter through the unit, with the added bonus of being able to pass dishes back and forth from the kitchen to the custom, built-in dining area with an upholstered banquette and formal dining table. The dining area flows directly into the living room and screened porch with beckoning golf course views beyond.

The living room has a tray ceiling with soft lighting; but the most spectacular features are a Napoleon, wall-mounted electric fireplace and television inset into a beige, textured wall. They are centered between built-in, lighted glass shelving, offering a dramatic setting and distracting the eye from the secret panel in the wall, which leads to a hidden guest bedroom and office.

“The hidden wall panel to the secret room created by the owner makes the living area more open and bigger,” says Lynch.

“My mom had a lot of fun updating the condo,” the owner adds. “The secret room – that’s her personality really showing through. She’s always been innovative and creative. Always thinking outside the box.”

In the “hidden” guest room, a built-in Murphy bed folds up out of the way so the room can double as an office. The custom, built-in desk overlooks the golf course, which provides a relaxing vista. A door that opens onto the screened porch shared with the living room offers guests a pleasant indoor-outdoor getaway of their own.

The owner’s suite is accessed through a set of French doors at the center of the unit. The spacious room opens onto a private screened porch surrounded by tropical foliage with a peek at the golf course. The suite has a walk-in closet and private bathroom with dual sinks, a walk-in shower, alcove toilet and garden tub.

A third bedroom with an en suite bath is located between the owner’s suite and the kitchen via a short hallway. The recently updated walk-in shower is awash in rich hues of jade and gray with inlaid tile features.

Just across the parking lot, an opening in the building leads to the Harmony Island community swimming pool, tucked in a protected, triangular space between two buildings. Here, you can lounge beside the pool or swim enveloped in privacy.

“Grand Harbor is all about lifestyle,” says Lynch. “There’s nothing else like it in Vero Beach. There is something in Grand Harbor for every price point.”

In addition to the wide range of amenities Grand Harbor has to offer, Lynch notes that the community is well maintained and pet friendly. “You can have multiple pets, and there is no weight restriction.”

The Members of Grand Harbor Golf & Beach Club recently voted to take over ownership of the club and community from the developer, giving residents more control over their beautifully designed riverside environment.

Harbor amenities include a 24-hour guard, gated security, two championship golf courses, tennis and bocce, as well as casual and fine dining. Shops and restaurants are just minutes away, and it’s a quick trip over the bridge to the beach, Ocean Drive shopping, dining, and the cultural events at Riverside Theatre and the Vero Beach Museum of Art.
