INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A 26-year-old Vero Beach man died after his truck slammed into a tree Friday, authorities said.

The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Highway troopers are no longer releasing the names of people involved in traffic crashes for privacy reasons.

The area of the crash was southeast of the Blue Cypress Conservation Area and west of Interstate 95.

Troopers said the man was traveling about 11:30 a.m. in the left lane on eastbound State Road 60. The man was approaching 154th Avenue when he lost control of the pickup truck, officials said.

The vehicle veered left into the grass median, then went back across both eastbound lanes and then onto the right grass shoulder, troopers said. The pickup spun clockwise before its left side collided with a tree.

The driver died from his injuries, troopers said. There were no other occupants in the vehicle, officials said.

Highway troopers continue to investigate the deadly wreck.
