Adelaide Kurtzeborn, 90, Sebastian

Adelaide Kurtzeborn, 90, of Sebastian, passed away peacefully on Dec. 30, 2019.

She was born in St. Louis, Mo., daughter of the late Frank and Adelaide Lorenz.

Adelaide was a graduate of Notre Dame all girl high school in St. Louis. While attending high school, she would apprentice in a beauty shop in the evenings and on weekends. She eventually owned the beauty shop where she apprenticed. At this beauty shop is where she met the love of her life, sales rep for Heil beauty supplies, Robert Kurtzeborn.

She started a family in St. Louis and moved to Florida in the 1970s. Living in Pompano, Micco, Vero Beach, and lastly, Sebastian.

Adelaide was a member of Saint John of the Cross Catholic Church, Heron Cay Community, and The Red Hat Society.

She enjoyed many hobbies, which included ceramics, painting, knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, jewelry making, stained glass, wood carving, and later in life, traveling.

Over the years Adelaide had many titles – first being her beauty shop owner operator, secondly, service station hotel owner operator, then on to selling real estate and finally retiring from large property management. But her greatest title was Mom.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Kurtzeborn, of 64 years; son, August “Gus” Kurtzeborn; and brothers, Frank, Eugene and Raymond Lorenz.

Adelaide is survived by her daughters, Helen Watson-Aubuchon (John), and Kathy Miller (Ted); son, Patrick Kurtzeborn (Gina); grandchildren, Brad Watson (Ally), Kelly Seidleberg (Tom), Rose Miller, Travis Kurtzeborn, Dustin McMann; and great-grandchildren, Ivan Boone, Miles Watson, Blake Boone, Roarke Watson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the shrine of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in St. Louis, Mo., 1220 North 11th St., St. Louis, MO 63106.

The family of Adelaide Dorothy Lorenz Kurtzeborn will be accepting visitors and guests on Jan. 8, at Strunk funeral Home, Sebastian, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

A funeral Mass will follow at Saint Sebastian Catholic Church at 1 p.m. with interment scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, at South Florida National, Cemetery, 6501 S. State Road 7, Lake Worth, Fla.

The family would like to thank the staff at Nurses Touch healthcare, Nurse On Call, Sebastian River Medical Center and Wound Center of Sebastian, and Lindcare for the wonderful care and compassion our mother received in her last few years.
