Center for Spiritual Care hosts Woodwind Chamber Group Dec. 11

The Tropical Winds Quartet, a woodwind chamber group, will ring in the holiday season at the Center for Spiritual Care in Vero Beach with a concert Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. The group will present a program ranging from Renaissance folk through Mozart and Strauss to traditional Christmas melodies.

The quartet is made up of Jane Weise, flute; Debbie Pillorge’, oboe; Bonnie Myers, clarinet; and Edward Sheridan, bassoon. All are active in community and regional ensembles, including the Vero Beach Chamber Orchestra.

The quartet will be joined for a pair of bassoon duets by special guest David Borst, principal bassoon for the Space Coast Symphony. Borst is professor emeritus of bassoon at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

“The Tropical Winds are special favorites at the Center and their evenings are always SRO,” said Center Director Carol Ludwig.

“This year, we look forward to the rare treat of these seldom-heard works for bassoon, especially as interpreted by two masterly performers, Borst and Sheridan.”

Seating is limited but reservations can be made by calling 772-567-1233.

Admission is free, although free-will offerings will be accepted. The Center for Spiritual Care is located at 1550 24th Street, two blocks north of the Main Library, in Vero Beach.
