Voting equipment tested for logic, accuracy ahead of Nov. 5 elections

On Monday, Oct. 28, the Indian River County Supervisor of Elections Office conducted the Pre-Election Public Test of the voting and tabulating equipment to be used in the upcoming Municipal Election.

Canvassing Boards from the City of Sebastian and City of Vero Beach, as well as, Supervisor of Elections Leslie Swan were present to witness the Logic & Accuracy Test, which was held in the warehouse of the Supervisor of Elections Office

“The purpose of the testing is to determine that the voting system is properly programmed, the election is correctly defined on the voting system, and that all of the voting system input, output, and communication devices are working properly,” said Supervisor of Elections Leslie Swan.

All of the DS200 optical scan units and ExpressVote ballot marking devices were tested, as well as, the high-speed Vote-By-Mail ballot tabulator.

The public test is conducted by processing a pre-audited, marked group of ballots, running the ballots through the voting and tabulation machines, and then comparing the results with the number of pre-determined valid votes for each race.

The final tabulated results accurately matched the control sheet and the voting equipment is now ready for delivery to the Election Day polling sites.
