VERO BEACH — Surveillance footage obtained by Vero News shows a 32-year-old man brutally beating another man, punching the victim nearly 30 times and kicking him twice while he was on the ground.
The victim – who was knocked unconscious- suffered “bleeding on the brain” and a broken eye socket. Authorities took the victim to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce with life-threatening injuries, reports show.
The beating happened about 2 a.m. Nov. 11 outside of Filthy’s Fine Cocktails & Beer, 1238 16th Street. Vero News obtained the bar’s video footage from the Vero Beach Police Department.

“The video speaks for itself,” State prosecuting attorney Robyn Stone said. “It is a very serious crime. We’re hoping there will be justice for the victim.”
A nurse told officers if the victim recovered, he would never be the same, court documents show. An update on his condition was not immediately available.
Police in November arrested the suspect, 32-year-old Christopher Browning, of the 800 block of 9th Street Southwest, on a charge of attempted second-degree murder. State prosecutors added a charge of aggravated battery with great bodily harm Tuesday, court documents show.
If convicted on the two charges, Browning could face up to 30 years in prison. Browning was released Nov. 22 from the Indian River County Jail on $150,000 bond.
The owner of the bar told police Browning was a regular patron that never caused any problems. A staff member said the victim was “provoking” Browning inside the bar prior to the beating, reports show.
Security removed the victim from the bar. Police said Browning went outside of the bar, exchanged words with the victim and then unleashed the attack.
Police responded to the scene and saw the victim slumped over the sidewalk with blood all over his face, reports show.
Officers arrested Browning on a warrant Nov. 20. Browning was due in court Jan. 16, Stone said.
