GIFFORD — Men and boys can experience free health screenings, tests and more during the ‘Man Up’ event this weekend.
“Man-up gives men and boys the opportunity to learn how to take care of themselves as well as each other,” HIV Outreach Coordinator John May, with the Florida Department of Health in Indian River County, said in a statement. “We are proud to bring this important event to our community.”
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Gifford Health Center, 4675 28th Court. The event, sponsored by the Indian River County HIV/AIDS Awareness Network and the local department of health, will feature Pastor Jimmie Hill as a keynote speaker.
Free services offered include:
- HIV/STD testing
- Prostate screenings and cholesterol testing provided by Indian River Medical Center
- Blood pressure and blood sugar monitoring (fasting is required for blood sugar monitoring)
- Lunch is free to participants
- Informational stations and vendors
- Music and more
