INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A 55-year-old woman suspected of stabbing a man in the leg after an argument at dinner claimed the man stabbed himself instead, authorities said.
Deputies charged Audrey Bristol Foster, of the 4200 block of 26th Avenue, with aggravated battery. She was released Friday from the Indian River County Jail on $1,000 bond.
Deputies responded to the stabbing about 9 p.m. Thursday at a home in the 200 block of 26th Avenue. Deputies spoke with the man, who said he and Foster were arguing earlier.
Details on what caused the argument were not available. The man told deputies Foster became enraged, grabbed a kitchen knife off the counter and stabbed him in the left leg, an arrest report shows.
Deputies saw two small puncture wounds on the man’s left upper thigh, authorities said. Deputies were unable to find the knife because Foster hid it.
The man described the knife as a regular kitchen knife with a silver blade and black plastic handle. Deputies spoke with Foster, who said the man stabbed himself, an arrest report shows.
Foster’s statements were inconsistent and deputies eventually arrested her. Foster has an arraignment at 8:30 a.m. June 6, court records show.
Details on if the man was hospitalized were not available.
