Police continue investigation in jewelry store burglary

VERO BEACH — The investigation continues for a jewelry store burglary where one or more suspects broke a window with a rock and stole $2,500 worth of items, authorities said.

No suspects were identified as of Monday, Vero Beach police spokeswoman Officer Megan DeWitt said. Police were still in the process of obtaining surveillance footage from the store.

Officers responded to the burglary about 3 a.m. March 27 at Estate Jewelry of Orchid Island, 3115 Ocean Drive. The store is located just south of Sexton Plaza and east of State Road A1A.

One or more suspects threw a rock at the front window. The rock smashed the glass and created a small hole, DeWitt said. The burglar(s) reached through the hole and stole 25 jewelry items from the display case.

An alarm activated after the glass shattered, DeWitt said. The owner notified police which items were stolen; details on which jewelry items were taken were not available.

Police continue to search for clues in the early morning burglary.
