INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Residents who need help registering for FEMA assistance following Hurricane Irma are in luck.
A Disaster Assistance Center will open to help residents from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at the Brackett Library, 6155 College Lane, in Vero Beach. The center will be staffed through at least the middle of next week.
The library is located on the Vero Beach campus of Indian River State College.
Residents can get help with FEMA registrations and applications for the Operation Blue Roof program, according to the Emergency Services Department. Operation Blue Roof helps eligible homeowners with free temporary roof repairs.
All residents are encouraged to register for FEMA assistance even if they don’t see immediate damage, officials said. Residents also can register for assistance online at www.disasterassistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA.
Residents can register for Operation Blue Roof by calling 888-766-3258.
