INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Based on discussions with local and county officials, Waste Management will stop all residential and commercial collection in Indian River County Thursday, Oct. 6, and Friday, Oct. 7.
After the storm, Waste Management will restart collection on streets that are passable. The company will expand its routes to additional areas as more streets become clear of debris and other impediments. Collection service schedules are as follows. This schedule is subject to change depending on storm conditions.
Recycling Service:
- Curbside recycling service has been suspended countywide and will resume the next regularly scheduled collection day.
Unincorporated Indian River County and City of Fellsmere customers:
- Thursday curbside garbage customers will be serviced on Saturday, Oct. 8.
- Friday curbside garbage customers will be serviced on Sunday, Oct. 9.
- Yard waste will be collected on the next regularly scheduled collection day.
City of Sebastian customers:
- Curbside garbage and yard waste service will resume the next regularly scheduled collection day.
Waste Management commercial/roll-off customers:
- Commercial and roll-off customers will be serviced during the morning of Thursday, Oct. 6, Service will resume on Saturday.
Residents and businesses are encouraged to secure their garbage and recycle containers in a safe location. In addition, all yard waste, such as tree limbs, should be bundled, tied down and placed in a location where the debris cannot become hazards to homes and automobiles in high winds. Do not place any items curbside until after the storm passes.
Waste Management uses various social media tools to assure that local residents can find up-to-date information in the event of service disruptions resulting from challenging post-storm conditions.
