IRSC offers Medical Coding and Documentation course

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Corporate and Community Training Institute at Indian River State College (IRSC) is offering a Medical Coding and Documentation Coding course that introduces participants to medical coding systems used to report physician and hospital services within all health care organizations where patients are treated.

The course is offered Saturdays starting Oct. 1 to Dec. 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the IRSC Main Campus in Fort Pierce.

This is an ideal course for those looking to advance their careers within the medical field and for anyone seeking to enhance their knowledge in current coding and billing.

Upon completion of the class students may sit for any of the following National outpatient coding certification exams: Certified Professional Coder, Certified Professional Coder-Hospital, Registered Medical Coder, Certified Medical Coder, Certified Billing and Coding Specialist or Certified Coding Associate.

The cost of the course is $1,598 and includes all books and materials. Businesses interested in sending their employees to this training may be eligible for the Employed Worker Training (EWT) Grant provided by CareerSource Research Coast. Under EWT, businesses may receive up to 50 percent reimbursement for the costs associated with this training. Their cost is $1,998 and includes the exam fee.
