Dr. Amatucci receives Indian River State College Department Chair Excellence Award

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Dr. Kelly Amatucci, Chair of the Department of Education at Indian River State College (IRSC), has been awarded the Ann R. Snyder Department Chair Excellence Award for outstanding achievement by the IRSC Foundation.

A Stuart resident and Associate Professor holding a Doctor of Education degree, Amatucci provides guidance to 10 Education Department employees and faculty members, collaborating to prepare future teachers. More than 200 IRSC graduates are now employed on the Treasure Coast as K-12 teachers. Many give back as cooperating teachers instructing current IRSC students.

“Dr. Amatucci is a role model and problem solver. She inspires the members of the Department of Education by sharing best practices and open communication,” said Dr. Marta Cronin, Vice-President of Academic Affairs.

Dedicated and innovative, Amatucci initiated a Teach Live project enabling students to practice teaching with computerized avatars. IRSC offers an Associate in Arts degree program for the first two years of college for future teachers and Bachelor’s Degree programs in Elementary Education, Exceptional Student Education, Middle Grades and High School Mathematics, Middle Grades Science and High School Biology.
