INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — McKee Botanical Garden is pleased to announce its 2016-2017 schedule of events for the upcoming season.
The season will kick-off with Community Appreciation Day on Saturday, Oct. 1, with $1 admission from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., in celebration of the Garden’s 15th Anniversary of the re-opening of McKee.
November will be a very busy month for the Garden. It will host “Nature Connects: Art With LEGO Bricks,” Nov. 5, 2016 through May 7, 2017. Back by popular demand, the award-winning “Nature Connects: Art With LEGO Bricks” exhibition by world renowned artist, Sean Kenney, will be showcased at McKee Botanical Garden. This year’s exhibition features 13 sculptures built with over 300,000 LEGO pieces and a build station.
The annual Gatekeepers of the Garden Celebration will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 6 p.m. This annual event is an invitation-only event to recognize Gatekeeper donors for their continued support and generosity.
The annual Bridge In The Garden event will take place on Monday, Nov. 14, at 9 a.m., and will feature Duplicate Bridge and a luncheon. The cost for this event is $75 individual/$100 Patron. This event is open to the public.
The Garden is sure to brighten up the holidays with its annual Holidays at McKee to be held Dec. 21-23 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Nights of Lights celebration Dec. 28-30 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The spirit of the holidays comes alive at McKee with thousands of twinkling lights and holiday decorations, luminaria lit pathways, spectacular lighting displays, a triumphant vintage band organ, large-scale model train display, and visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Forty spectacular cars will be on display throughout the Garden at the 8th Annual Motor Car Exhibition “Rods and Customs” on Saturday, Feb. 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The 7th Annual Fairy and Pirate Festival “Enchantment in the Garden” will take place on Saturday, May 13 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Children will delight in the mythical wonder and fascination of the Garden as it transforms into an enchanted land of fairies and pirates with themed activities. Costumes are encouraged.
The 13th Annual Waterlily Celebration “A Spectacle of Color” is scheduled for Saturday, June 17 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Enjoy the splendor of the Garden adorned with the state’s largest collection of waterlilies. The day’s events include re-potting demonstrations, a plant sale, vintage home and garden accents and the annual waterlily photo contest.
In addition, McKee Botanical Garden is pleased to announce the opening of Patisserie at the Garden Cafe in November.
General admission rates apply, except for Bridge in the Garden. For evening events, the Garden will close at its regularly scheduled time of 5 p.m. and re-open at 6 p.m.

McKee Botanical Garden is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit-organization whose mission is to nurture and enhance a historic garden in a unique tropical setting for the education, enjoyment and enrichment of all. McKee Botanical Garden is located at 350 US 1 in Vero Beach. Effective October 31, general admission rates are $12 Adults, $11 Seniors and $8 Children ages 3-12. Admission is free for McKee members and children under 3. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, 12 to 5 p.m. The Garden is closed on Mondays, except where noted for special events.
