Armand R. Zarrella, 94, Sebastian

Armand R. Zarrella, 94, of Sebastian, passed away at Sebastian Hospital surrounded by his friends and family on July 14, 2016.

He is survived by his loving daughter Lynne M. (Zarrella) Salvail and her husband, Steve E. Salvail; grandsons Erik M. Salvail and his wife Sara Oberg of Portland, Oregon, and Matthew M Salvail of Pawtucket, R.I. He was also the very proud and loving great-grandfather to Max Armand, and Kai Salvail of Portland, Oregon.

Zarrella was the beloved husband of the late Rita (Costiglia) Zarrella for 64 years.

He was born in Providence, R.I., to the late Pasquale and Mary (Cafaro) Zarrella. He was raised and educated in Attleboro, Mass., and graduated from Attleboro High School, Class of 1940.

Zarrella later enlisted and proudly served in the United States Navy in World War II and Korea as a Gunners Mate First Class Petty Office until being honorably discharged. Upon returning home from military service he married, then briefly settled in Attleboro, Mass., to start a family. He eventually moved to Pawtucket, R.I., then finally settled in Seekonk, Mass.

He began his employment at L.G. Balfour as a model ring maker and remained there for 37 years until his retirement. He enjoyed working part-time at MOD associated is Attleboro, then finishing as a bagger for Publix Supermarket in Sebastian.

Zarrella had many interests most notably his devotion and involvement with Sebastian Christian Church. He was also a member of “The Sons of Italy” in Attleboro, The Masons, and The Loyal Order of Elk. In Sebastian he was an active member of the Craft Club, The American Legion, and most notably Tandem Sky Diving, making his most recent jump just one month ago, accompanied by some of the nursing staff from his Dialysis Center. He also enjoyed golfing even after his 94th Birthday. He will surely be missed.

The family will be having a Celebration of Life gathering at Sebastian Christian Church, 190 Day Drive, Sebastian, FL, on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016 at 2 p.m.
