ST. LUCIE COUNTY — An Indian River County man is dead and two of his three boating partners injured after a Father’s Day boating accident on the Indian River Lagoon in St. Lucie County, according to authorities.
Killed in the incident was 26-year-old Cody Troska, who was out boating with three others when they were run over by a boat they were trying to stop, Florida Fish and Wildlife officials said.
According to authorities, Troska, Luke Muccigrosso, 22, and Andres Blanco, 22, were riding in a boat piloted by Dominic Dragon. Dragon was thrown from the boat while running it in circles, jumping waves.
The passengers jumped out of the boat to help Dragon and, as they were trying to get back into the boat to stop it, the boat ran them over, authorities said.
Troska succumbed to head injuries from the collision. Muccigrosso, of Port St. Lucie, and Blanco sustained injuries. Dragon was uninjured.
Authorities from the FWC are investigating the incident.
